The Nevada State Athletic Commission voted in Las Vegas on Wednesday to extend the ban issued to MMA fighters Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov until an investigation is concluded into the brawl that followed their UFC lightweight world title fight.

The Commission voted in favour of releasing half – $1 million (877,400 euros) – of Nurmagomedov’s fight purse to the MMA champion, after it had previously been withheld.

Further considerations regarding the fighters’ suspensions and the rest of Nurmagomedov’s purse will be taken on the 10th of December, when the Commission is expected to decide whether both fighters will be expelled for life from the UFC.

“In the grand scheme of things I don’t think it really means all that much. Conor didn’t have a fight or wouldn’t have likely had a fight scheduled before the end of the year anyway,” McGregor’s legal counsel Michael Mersch said.

Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor by rear submission in the fourth round at UFC 229 in Las Vegas on October 7.
