Paraguay and Ecuador secured qualification to the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 amid a thrilling finale to the CONMEBOL U-17 Championship in Lima on Sunday.
With Argentina and Chile winning through on the penultimate matchday, four teams were left vying for two tickets to the world stage entering the final round.
Paraguay played out a scoreless draw with second-placed Chile for the point they needed for qualification. Brazil 2019 will be Paraguay’s fifth appearance at the tournament and third in succession.
After Peru edged a dramatic 3-2 over Uruguay in the first match of the day, Ecuador needed to win by three goals in the final match to qualify. They did just that by defeating champions Argentina 4-1 with a comeback win.
