New South Wales vs Tasmania, Sydney

New South Wales’ plans of pushing for a win over Tasmania were scuppered as only 4.3 overs of play were possible on the third day at the Sydney Cricket Ground. NSW, who racked up 442 in the first innings, struck off the first ball of the day when Trent Copeland dismissed George Bailey for his fourth wicket of the innings. But Jake Doran and Matthew Wade allayed any immediate fears by seeing out the remainder of the 26 balls of the day before the heavens opened up.

Cloudy weather is forecast for the final day’s play on Thursday but any chance of forcing an outright victory may have now disappeared for the hosts, who are still searching for their first victory of the season.

Brief scores: NSW 442/ decl. (Jason Sangha 117, Jack Edwards 101; Gabe Bell 3-75) lead Tasmania 115/4 (Alex Doolan 53; Trent Copeland 4-27) by 327 runs.
