India fast bowler Jhulan Goswami reclaimed the number one ranking in ODI cricket, leapfrogging Australia’s Megan Schutt and Pakistan’s Sana Mir to the top slot. Goswami had last been atop the rankings in February 2017.
She took eight wickets in the recently-concluded ODI series against India, which the hosts won 2-1 and reached second spot in the eight-team championship, which helped her reach the summit. Goswami now has 218 wickets in ODIs, the highest in ODIs.
Shikha Pandey, Goswami’s pace twin in the Indian team, also made big moves, jumping 12 places to finish in the fifth position, making it two Indian pacers in the top 5. Australia Jess Jonassen also jumped two places to be placed next to Goswami in the rankings.
India now lead the rankings in both the batting and bowling departments, with Smriti Mandhana leading the table with career-best ranking points of 797. She currently leads the batting charts in the ongoing ODI championship with 837 runs. New Zealand’s Amy Satterthwaite and India’s Mithali Raj both rose up one rung to finish at third and fourth spots respectively, behind Ellyse Perry.
