Gauteng offspinner Raisibe Ntozakhe is the sole addition in Cricket South Africa’s latest list of 14 contracted women’s cricketers for the period of May 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019. The South African board hasn’t increased the number of cricketers in the list, with rest of the players retaining their contracts except senior medium pacer Marcia Letsoalo.
Letsoalo last played for South Africa in February 2017. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Ntozakhe has featured in 12 international games for South Africa since making her debut in May 2017, but has bagged only four wickets.
“I congratulate those players who have been awarded national contracts and once again extend our thanks and appreciation to our generous sponsors, Momentum, for their support of our women’s national team,” Corrie van Zyl, CSA general manager of cricket, said.
“It is going to be an exceptionally busy and challenging period for our women’s national team,” he added. “We will be hosting Bangladesh in May and then there are away tours to England and the West Indies before we travel to the ICC Women’s World T20, also in the West Indies in November, and then have a home series against Sri Lanka.
“It is important that we build on our recent successes as we prepare for this year’s Women’s World T20.”
Contracted players: Dane van Niekerk, Ayabonga Khaka, Sune Luus, Marizanne Kapp, Mignon du Preez, Shabnim Ismail, Trisha Chetty, Chloe Tryon, Lizelle Lee, Laura Wolvaardt, Masabata Klaas, Andrie Steyn, Moseline Daniels, Raisibe Ntozakhe.
